Cooktop Repair

Star® gas and Freedom® induction fail in different ways — one is ignition and flame, the other is detection under the glass. Surface installation also limits how the unit is reached.

What we do

Overview

Cooktop Repair

A cooktop or rangetop is a surface appliance. Gas ignition, induction detection, and electric element control are different technologies under similar stone. Naming gas versus induction in the booking already changes the visit.

The unit is often dropped into a cutout with drawers or an oven below. Access may be from above, from the cabinet, or both. Cracked glass is a stop, not a DIY patch.

Flame, detection, regulation

Clicking without flame is not the same as an induction zone that ignores a pan. A zone that cycles wildly is a regulation question. Controls that flicker may be the interface, not the burner. Those splits keep the scope honest.

Request the visit with the fuel type if you know it. Related cooking repairs are on the services index. Thermador Support has cookware and model notes.

Step by step

Our diagnostic process

Surface type

Star® gas, Freedom® induction, or electric — from the appliance, not assumed.

Zone behavior

Which burner failed and whether neighbors still work.

Ignition or detection

Flame path versus pan detection under glass.

Cutout access

How the cooktop sits in stone and what is below it.

How it works

The repair process

Named technology

The scope follows gas, induction, or electric findings.

Work reviewed

Required components are discussed before the surface is lifted further.

Approved zone repair

Only the approved cooktop work proceeds.

Heat response

The affected zone is checked for heat or detection as applicable.

Specialists

Technician expertise

Cooktops are diagnosed as surface systems: ignition or induction detection, then heat regulation, then the cutout they sit in. Rangetops add a different access path than a flush glass unit.

After the visit

Service terms after repair

Workmanship terms for completed cooktop work, where they apply, come with the estimate. No coverage length is advertised here.

Safety first Stop using a cracked glass cooktop and keep it disconnected. Gas ignition that smells of fuel should not be clicked repeatedly. Live connections under the surface are technician work.
