Pro Grand® Burner Won’t Ignite Safe Things to Check First

A Pro Grand® burner that clicks without lighting is an ignition symptom. Check the cap seating; leave gas parts alone.

A Pro Grand® burner that clicks without lighting is an ignition symptom on the cooktop. It is not a laundry or spin problem, and it is not a reason to open gas fittings.

Confirm the burner cap sits level on its base and that the ports are not flooded from a spill. Dry the area and try that burner once. If you smell gas, stop — leave and call the gas provider from outside the kitchen.

What a single dead burner can mean

One burner that fails while others light is a useful pattern. It can involve the igniter, the cap seating, or another part of that burner circuit. Those possibilities are not a parts list.

Stop before gas work

Do not adjust valves, disconnect fittings, or defeat an ignition lockout. Request a range diagnosis with the model number from the rating label. The PRD486WDHU reference is for identification if that is the number you have.
