Refrigerator Making Unusual Noises What’s Normal and What’s Not

Many refrigerator sounds are ordinary: a hum, a gurgle, a click at the end of a cycle. A new grinding or rattle that arrives with poor cooling is a different kind of note.

Move items off the cabinet, confirm the refrigerator sits level, and leave space so nothing behind it can vibrate. Write down when the sound happens — after the door closes, during cooling, or all the time.

Do not chase the sound inside the machine

Rear covers, fan blades, and sealed components stay closed. If the noise is new and food is warming, request refrigerator diagnosis rather than another rearrangement of the groceries.
